Charlotte Lanier

Charlotte Lanier is a native North Carolina mixed-media artist who now lives in the mountains of Tennessee. She is primarily a self-taught wood carver who delights in creating folk art birds and other whimsical creatures. After an extended trip to Russia in 1995, Charolotte has been inspired by ancient icons and religious artifacts from this country.

As Charlotte explains, "Beauty is found in the imperfections of my work. I have always had a penchant for the used, the mended, or repaired look of a piece. My attempts to achieve this look give my artwork a patina that sets it apart. It is gratifying that my work is 'at home' in both sophisticated and primitve surroundings.

Her work has been exhibited at national galleries and museums and has been featured in several art publications. Lastly, due to the intricate and delicate nature of Charlotte's creations, we do not offer a shipping service for these items.
